Hong Kong SAR Government announced on March 3 that the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Rail will gradually resume long-distance services from March 11, which means that Shishan citizens can visit Hong Kong in just 1.5 hour by high speed rail.

In the first phase, the services between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Chaoshan, Shantou and Zhaoqing East will be resumed first. Passengers can take relevant lines to reach 11 intermediate stations, including Chaoyang, Foshan West, Yumen, Huidong, Huizhou South, Kuitan, Lufeng, Puning, Sanshui South, Shanwei and Shenzhen Pingshan. From April 1, the Hong Kong section will be fully restored, connecting long-distance stations between Hong Kong and the stations outside Guangdong Province.

Foshan West Railway Station is located in Shishan Town. In 2019, Foshan West Railway Station opened the first high-speed rail line directly to Hong Kong, providing one-hour access to Hong Kong and Macau. At present, with Foshan West Railway Station, Shishan sits on the railway hub of the western Greater Bay Area. So far Shishan has operated and planned "6 national railways + 4 intercity railways + 8 metro lines + 6 trams", which makes Shishan the town with the longest planned mileage of railways in Foshan.

With the completion and operation of important transportation projects, such as Guangzhou-Foshan Ring Line, Foshan Metro Line 3 and 4, the density of subway lines in Shishan will be comparable to Chancheng and Guicheng. With a half-hour access to Guangzhou and one-hour access to Hong Kong and Macao, the economic development of Shishan will be further activated.
