This year marks the return of Foshan Qiuse Parade after three-year of suspension. Massive variety of floats are always the iconic attraction of the parade. As the event is around the corner, how is the preparation of floats for this year? Is there any special feature? Here is the trailer of floats for 2023 Qiuse Parade.

These various lanterns made with bamboo or iron wires are the decoration elements of floats. The float been assembling, namely "Heart of Foshan, Six elements in Chancheng", is one iconic float of this year.

"Heart of Foshan, Six elements in Chancheng" Float

Its main structure adopts the design of concentric cycles, representing the heart of Foshan. Additionally, iconic architectures like Liang's Garden, Wenchang Tower and Tongji Bridge, as well as traditional customs like dragon boat and fire dragon dance, are featured around the core. By including key characteristics from 4 towns and sub-district in Chancheng District, the whole float aims to present the fruitful history and cultures.

Stated by Yang Xiaoyan, the art director of floats, also the inheritor of national intangible cultural heritage Foshan Colored Lantern, it would be the most difficult float ever as it features nearly 20 elements. In comparison, the traditional ones have 4 to 6 elements in general. Since the dimension for float is restricted to 6m*3m*4m, it has adopted both plane and three-dimension structure to ensure the capacity, also the harmony in appearance.
