Recently, the China Film Festival in South Africa opened in Johannesburg, showcasing the excellent Chinese film I AM WHAT I AM that promotes the cultural and tourism aspects of the Nanhai District, Foshan.

The film I AM WHAT I AM was officially released in China on December 17, 2021, and received an impressive score of 8.3 on Douban during its pre-release screenings, earning it the title of "Best Domestic Film of the Year" in the industry. On May 26, 2023, the film made its official release in Japan.

The exhibition featured a total of 11 exceptional domestic films, including 3 Cantonese productions. Among them, White Snake is a Cantonese opera film that has not only won the prestigious Huabiao Film Award but also embodies the essence of Chinese aesthetics. Starry Road portrays the unwavering spirit and determination of Guangdong's youth in the face of challenges, while I AM WHAT I AM showcases the captivating art of traditional Chinese lion dance. These films have garnered a tremendous response from audiences in Africa.

As the first domestically-produced film to be widely released overseas, the film I AM WHAT I AM showcases the art of lion dance through animation. By capturing the dynamic performances of the Wong Fei-hung Lion Dance Team, the film presents thrilling lion dance displays that resonate with the audience, providing both excitement and emotional impact.

In particular, the film's portrayal of the high pole lion dance competition authentically captures the atmosphere of the Tianhu Lion King Championship held in Xiqiao Mountain, Nanhai District.
