The 31st FISU World University Games officially opened on Friday evening in Chengdu, capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Being one of the top international sporting events, the mascot "Rongbao" became a focal point of attention. As the official producer for the Games, Foshan-based company Guangdong Liangzhuang Investment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Liangzhuang") collaborated with two national intangible cultural heritages, namely the Shunde Xiangyun Silk and Sichuan Shu Embroidery, to create a unique and distinctive twelve zodiac-themed stage screen featuring "Rongbao" as the main character, sharing the story of China with the world.

The adorable "Rongbao" is dressed in unique costumes representing the twelve zodiac signs, showcasing not only the fashionable, youthful, and vibrant design concept of the Games, but also blending the trendy and cute image with the profound and elegant traditional culture.

The rabbit version of "Rongbao" for the Year of the Rabbit wears a cute pink and white rabbit headpiece, with a Chinese character "福" (happiness and luck) and firecrackers on the side. It holds a blessing of "年年有余" (abundance every year) and is surrounded by peach blossoms, creating a joyful and auspicious atmosphere. Similarly, the chicken version of "Rongbao", with a little yellow chicken on its head and a Chinese knot in its hand, is adorned with peach blossoms and lanterns, creating a lively and charming image.

Lin Hong, Deputy General Manager of the Marketing Center at Guangdong Liangzhuang Investment Co., Ltd., stated that the fabric material of the twelve zodiac-themed screens is made of Xiangyun Silk, while "Rongbao" and other zodiac figures in the picture are hand-embroidered by Shu Embroidery artisans. The reason of choosing the twelve zodiac signs as the theme is because they are important symbols of Chinese traditional culture, which has been well-known to and widely accepted by the public.

Notably, although the twelve zodiac stage screen is handmade, its production techniques have become more mature. It takes one and a half months to produce a set. As the order volume is continuously increasing, the production will operate at full capacity until the end of the year, showing great popularity.
